This Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) is a respected and reputed autonomous body, it is set up by the Government of the province of Punjab. It is established so that students can be examined and assessed on the basis of their learning achievements. It was in 2005 that PEC started its operations and complete functioning. In 2006, it conducted 5th grade exams for the first time in Punjab province.
This is a statutory body which is working under this Punjab Examination Commission Act XI of 2010. Private and public school students, they enroll in these exams for their grade 5 and grade 8 assessment phase. This examination commission comprises 18 members, 3 of the members belong to MPA category and 2 of the members are educationists, two of the members are from the private school category and they are nominated from the side of Punjab provincial government.
